Stirling Castle, and Hummingbyrd reaches Level 32.

Day 6: Our last day full day in Scotland and Hummingbyrd leveled up to 32!   What better way to celebrate leveling up than a surprise breakfast in bed.

Of course mooching the food is a must if you are a Minion worth your salt.

We headed to Sterling Castle for the day...and passed the Kelpies on the way there.

They are huge by the way.  The flowers are because Grins said "Mama take a picture of the pretty flowers!"

This was a cool building to park next to before walking up to the castle.

The boys all standing in front of the Boy Scouts building in Sterling.

The first of many pictures taken of the William Wallace memorial tower and Robert the Bruce statue.

Inside the castle is a small children's exhibit about life during the Stewart Court years.

Testing their new knowledge about pigment and dye sources.

The lion's court where a live lion was said to have been kept.  Poor thing.

Time to play dress up, Princess Lumpy's favorite part.  Little Z had a great time as well.

We all had a great time clowning around.

Off to go learn about the "Bird Man"
Apparently some idiot threw himself from up here claiming he could fly...only to plummet into a pile of manure that saved his life below.
Yeah...from up there...to down below the trees.  Little Z and Lumpy were stunned.

He must have been brilliant, huh guys.

Okay time to go check out the inside of the castle which has been fully restored using the original techniques and dyes and processes that were used originally.  That means that the paintings on the walls you are about to see are extremely expensive.

All the tapestries and upholstery has also be recreated in the original manner.  It takes years to finish the tapestries.  Gaaaah...I wouldn't want that bill.

Throughout the castle you encounter people in character who tell you about history as if you are there at that time living it.

The story told about the tapestries lining this room were amazing.
The below tapestry was borrowed by Hollywood for a particular movie series, the Unicorn is also the national animal of Scotland.

Lots of history and fun to be had here.

Taking pictures from a cannon isn't as easy as it looks.

Checking out the cannonballs and then it is down into the remains of the tower.

New residents in the old tower.

The grand hall was huge, and it was cool to see the 'hidden' entrance to the musicians alcove.

May this family reign for many years to come.
Alternatively we could all get tossed in the brig.

Dungeons are just as dark as you'd expect.

Well time to head back, but not before getting a  picture of an amazing book.
One of the best days on record, and we didn't get any pictures of it, but the evening ended by us being treated by a lovely Scottish lady to a delicious traditional meal.  Haggis stuffed chicken is so yummy!

Tomorrow we head back to England.
