In honor of ten years of being an Adventure Party, Lord Hickory and Lady Hummingbyrd opted to take the Minions to the Kingdom. The dragon was not up to this particular task, so we went by Roc.
After our short flight, we took the Underground to here:
Thus began the searching for our lodging, this would take hours and much trekking.
At least there were some pretty views as we trudged along. The next morning we enjoyed an "English Breakfast"....well um, some of us enjoyed it, but mostly it was deemed unfit for consumption by the Minions. We are off to explore the city.
Good thing we had the Minions to escort us around.
Looks like we need them for this trip, off to catch our double-decker.
Many sights to be seen, and thus you must endure the many pictures to follow.
'Her Majesty's Theatre' shall become 'His Majesty's Theatre' once the Monarchy has a king again.
We must apologize for not explaining what each thing is, you will just have to go and find out.
Trafalgar Square was very interesting though.
This was the 'rotating art exhibit' that sits on the fourth pedestal at the square, the bow on it's leg is an on-going digital ticker, no idea what about.
So many Shaun the Sheep statues all around London. Reminded me of the cows in Chicago.
You should read about the Trafalgar Square lions, very interesting.
A Coal Hole?...um, yeah.
Dude, our judiciary buildings look like dung compared to theirs.
I mean seriously...why don't our government buildings look so regal and majestic...oh wait, no former monarchies to waste money building them I suppose.
The Dragon of Westminster, front and back and some old time signage, love it.
Okay, time to really begin the nerding out Hickory and Hummingbyrd totally did this the whole trip.
One can tell how much we were concerned with this, neither one of us remembers what Cathedral this was...St. Somebody's.
London Bridge is falling dow...er standing there.
Hmm, some new 'landmarks' are just not as cool as others ones. Oh look, 'The Shard'. Oh Noes! London Bridge is Underground! So is the dungeon though, so we're good.
The London Bridge is actually really pretty up close.
Sadly we didn't have time to stop at the Tower of London, have to go back to see the crown jewels and the palace itself.
That spindle thingy in the middle is the 'tower' by the way.
Random things that were cool:
Wait, Testing and Experimenting Works for what?!? Well that's a good motto, I guess.
Eye see you!
The Minions were super excited to see a "Duck" in person after reading about them in their books.
Like was said earlier, the sheep were everywhere.
Up into the Eye we go, so glad we got the fast passes.
Big Ben and Buckingham Palace.
Enjoying the views.
And playing with our new telephoto lens.
See the tiny boat below us?...Look how close we can zoom in! This makes Big Ben look closer too.
The closest we got to the "Changing of the Guard".
Skoshi LOVED being up so high.
Even Chubbly, who doesn't like heights liked seeing the city from up here.
This is what the pods you travel in look like from the outside.
They move extremely slowly and are air conditioned.
More camera fun.
Into Westminster Abbey, the only place we toured.
Hyde's Park.
H.G. Wells and Arnold Bennett lived there.
H.G. Wells people. Oh and the Beatles, how could we not stop?
Finally made it to the address we needed though.
Oh you better believe we stopped here.
Princess Lumpy was done touring at this point.
See! He lived! ;) Okay time to head back to our flat. Might as well have some fun at the station.
Beautiful night.
We slept soundly, our one full day in London was exhausting. Scotland, here we come.
